13/52 And Then There Were Chickens

I would like to say we got chickens because Marlow HAD to have them, but let's be honest here. It was the king of the impulse buy, my dear husband, who said let's just go look at the chicks. This quickly turned into, "Hun, go get a cart." I will say this was only semi-impulse. We have wanted chickens for a while and I've read some books, etc, but we weren't quite ready yet. I mean I'm leaving for a week and we don't even have a coop. NO COOP! Ok, ok it's not such a big deal. They won't need for for a while, but if you knew how long it takes us to get projects done! Although, we do work best under pressure, so maybe this will work out.

Either way, meet Ruby, Sunshine, and Pepper. Or as Marlow says, "Ruby right now...Sunshine right now...Pepper right now. Oh they sleepin'!!"

12/52 Where the Chicken Thing Started

I'm getting caught up here on my one-a-weeks, so I'm posting today and tomorrow. Here goes.

I'm am continually thankful that visiting grandparents always means a lot of outdoor, farm time. In Waterville, Marlow loves to visit the neighbors who have their own homestead going on complete with horses, chickens, turkey, ducks, rabbits, dogs, 4H kids, you name it. We hear cow and goat are coming soon. Marlow likes to say "Duck scarwin' me! So loud! Oh yeah!"

Needless to say, this is where Marlow's chicken obsession started.

Sullivan Family | Family Photos | Downtown Spokane

Meet little mister Stone and his bigs, Drew and Tori. I am so thankful to have done this shoot. Tori and I both grew up in good ol' G-town. Our parents have actually known each other for decades. And now here we all are, married and kids and both in Spokane. This family is beyond just adorable - they are happy and smart and friendly - and just lovely to be around. Stone is a ball of joy. Truly.

You may have spotted some familiar downtown Spokane sites for this photo shoot - Barrister Winery, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, and the Masonic Center area.

11/52 Kiss me (3 years of St. Patty's)

I'm playing catch up (will have to post 12 and 13 next week - oops) and am way late on this St. Patty's Day photo, but it must still happen! We've started a bit of a tradition here with this headband situation. Look at this cutie pie in the only spot she would agree to be photographed, stains on her shirt, crazy post-school hair, scar on her lip - real life, folks - followed by two terrible iPhone photos. Memories.

Archer turns 7 months old | Spokane Mini Session | Children

This post is a very special one for me. Several reasons.

1. This age is about my favorite ever! (although I say that about every age..ssh) The smiles are happening. Kids are sitting on their own. And most importantly, they're putting on the chub by the handfuls. Yum!

2. This photography journey became "official" for me just 7 months ago with Archer's birth (those photos here).  A day am I forever thankful to have been a part of. Since then, I have met dozens of amazing, sweet families! I am continually overwhelmed by people's kindness, generosity, and appreciation for the photos I give them.

3. This took us 15 minutes. That might not sound like a big deal, but for me it is. It means that I've learned a lot. It means I read Archer and his limits, and personality, read this room and its light, knew my abilities to get it right in camera, knew this age and what positions work, and know that families are busy.

4. The most important thing about this is what his mom Ashley said after. Scroll to the bottom to see her reaction. It is this type of sentiment I hear from clients that makes me happiest of all. It is why I do this.

Now carry on with the scrumptious Mr. Archer and all his expressions! Ladies, brace your ovaries.

I teared up, then I laughed out loud, then I wondered in amazement how you captured this beautiful moment when I hadn’t showered and smelled of baby spit up and sweat. Lol! Seriously, every frame is so great! They are all my favorites. Perma mommy grin over here.

Mini Sessions are the best for birthdays and kiddo milestones when attention spans are short anyway! Or even for husbands for that matter. ;) Oh and don't forget, today we make our relationship Facebook official. Thanks friends!

In loveeee with this. The Scheele family. That adorable baby bump! The gorgeous Liberty Lake sun. Quinn's perfect red hair. It was a pretty great day. Ben, Katie and Quinn...I'm so happy to have met you. Baby brother is going to be so lucky to join your family. I'm so thankful that you wanted to document this pregnancy and this stage of life. Can't wait to meet baby!

This family photo session took about an hour roaming around Liberty Lake Park for some lifestyle maternity family photos.
